Summer Vacation 2010

This past summer we went to the Great Smokies during my birthday and our anniversary. We really enjoyed our summer vacation. We got to see bears chasing each other in Cades Cove! Also we had a great time visiting Dollywood. We even purchased season tickets and we got great use out of those this season! Also we played putt-putt together and Brendan even got a hole in one!

Garrett's 8th Birthday in April

We enjoyed Garrett's 8th Birthday at Nana and Pop's! We had friends and family over and had a great time! Garrett loved his cake and enjoyed all of his presents. He is getting so big! We are proud of him and love him very much! These are a few pictures from this wonderful day!

Mother's Day 2010 - Back in May

This is how I spent my Mother's Day this year! I had an AWESOME time with my boys at an Alabama/Florida baseball game. The baseball players all handed their mother's roses at the beginning of the game. How sweet! Then we watched Big Al go through the crowd. This day was also the same day as the air show and we caught a glimpse of the Blue Angels soaring high above! The boys at the end of the game got to round the bases...so much fun! We WON on this day too which made it worth it! ROLL TIDE!

Alabama A-Day - Back in April

Brendan's 4th Birthday - Back in February

I know it has been a while since I posted. These are from Brendan's 4th Birthday! Hard to believe that he'll be in Kindergarten next year! He is growing up too fast. On this special day too, Garrett lost his first tooth! Brendan enjoyed all of the toys he got and was so happy as always!

Before the party of course a little curious one got into the cake and it had to be patched up as best as we could do it! Brendan received a Leapster Tag pen and books from mom. Our gift to him was the Fisher Price/ESPN baseball machine, which he loves and knocks the mess out of it every time we get it out. All the extended family brought gifts as well and he loved every one of them. Cars, aqua-doodles, balls...typical boys stuff! Enjoy the pictures!

2nd Grade Field Trip to Homestead Hollow

This year the second grade took a trip to Homestead Hollow. Here they learned the days of old of doing things, such as making soap, candles, and food. Garrett enjoyed the day with two of his friends from class, Brannon and Bradley. They were such a great group to carry around. No trouble out of any of them. They looked on and absorbed as much as they could, but the mission for the day was to find a bow and arrow. We bought one for Garrett and one of the other boys did too! It was a fun-filled day for all!

This was the second day at Magic Kingdom! We absolutely loved it. Brendan rode his first roller coaster and we saw Move It, Shake It, Celebrate It! Very cute parade! We did several things again such as Pirates of the Caribbean and of course It's a Small World!

Disney Trip July 2009 - Epcot

These pics are from our 1st day at Epcot. We rode Spaceship Earth first thing and then headed for Test Track! Garrett, Patrick, and myself went on this ride! What a blast! Brendan was waiting with Nana. Also we ate where the ride The Land and Soarin' are. Yummy food! Garrett indulged in a Mickey Bar and Brendan was devouring his PB and J. We then worked our way back to Journey into your Imagination with Figment and then onto The World Showcase. Of course we had to get to Germany!!! We ate at the little snack stand and Patrick was able to speak with fellow Germans.

Disney Trip July 2009 - Magic Kingdom

This was the first day we went to the Magic Kingdom! This was a wonderful day filled with lots of fun. We hit the Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean, Dumbo, Small World, Winnie the Pooh Ride, and of course many more! The Spectromagic parade was AWESOME as always along with the fireworks show Wishes! Disney World is just simply the BEST place on Earth!!!

Disney Trip July 2009 - Hollywood Studios

Here are pics from the second day at Disney! On this day we went to Hollywood Studios. The first place we headed was the Aerosmith Rockin' Rollercoaster! Just Patrick and myself rode that one of course. Loved it! Then we headed over to the Tower of Terror. Everyone got on this ride. Brendan was a little scared, but did pretty well on it. We then proceeded to work our way around the park and went to the Playhouse Disney Live Show. Brendan was so excited! He loved seeing Mickey, Little Einsteins, Handy Manny, and Pooh and Friends! Cute show! We then went to get our picture taken with the UP characters. I love Mr. Fredrickson! We then hit the newest ride in this park...Toy Story Mania! Love this ride!!! We stood in line for almost an hour. What a popular ride! All the fast passes were taken by 10:00am and the time for the last fast pass was to come back at around 7:00pm! We worked our way around till we got to the Star Tours ride. After riding this ride Garrett got to use his Disney Dollars that Brent and Becky gave him for his birthday. He used it to make his own light saber! We also wanted to see the Indiana Jones show, but it was too late that day for us to last so we ended up coming back to watch the show later in the week. We had a wonderful day!

Disney Trip July 2009 - Animal Kingdom

Well it has been quite a while since I have posted anything. So here goes my first of several blog catch-up entries. The following are some of the pics of our summer vacation back in July. This was the first day of a
great trip! On our first day at Disney we went to Animal Kingdom. As we entered the park that morning we got to see the "Tree of Life" in all its glory without really anyone else around because the park hadn't really opened up just yet. We had reservations at the Tusker House to eat breakfast with the characters. It was a buffet style meal with an African theme. The boys absolutely loved it! Garrett jumped in the conga line at one point and danced around with the characters. Afterwards we jumped on the Kilamanjaro Safari and got great pics of the giraffes and a crazy ostrich that wouldn't move out of the way of the vehicle for a while. We got a great laugh out of it! Patrick and I enjoyed the great ride Mt. Everest along with Garrett. And the rapids were a blast too! It rained a bit that day, but still when you're at Disney you can have fun in the rain. Just put on those ponchos and go!

The Energizer Bunny and Energetic Boys

This was a fun-filled Saturday! The boys thoroughly enjoyed running through the grass and tackling one another. They are also really good at just being plain silly! The hot air balloon show was AWESOME! The Energizer Bunny balloon was so HUGE!!! One lady said that it is larger than the Statue of Liberty supposedly! Well it was rather enormous. If this show comes again, we will definitely be there once again! The mayor is really trying to improve Tuscaloosa and bring new things into the city. Hopefully in the next couple of years the air show will return too!

Montgomery Zoo Field Trip

Garrett went on a first grade field trip to the Montgomery Zoo! Patrick went with him and it looks like they had a great time. Wish I could have been there, but had to work. Love the baby elephant...ROLL TIDE! The lion looks like it is getting plenty of rest in the shade. The monkey is absolutely hilarious and reminds me of Garrett swinging on the monkey bars at school. Patrick of course could not forget his beloved favorite..the eagle! The tiger picture is pretty AWESOME! Enjoy the pictures!

Garrett's 7th Birthday!!!

On the day of Garrett's birthday party he had a ball game earlier! He also got a team picture made that day. You can check it out below! Kim, Greg, Jordan, and Jamison came to watch him play. That was so sweet of them to come and make a day of it and then come to the party later!!! Garrett was so excited about having his party at Chuck E. Cheese that day! His favorite games of course were Skee Ball and Basketball. He racked up a few tickets at each game. Also Jordan and Jamison were very generous and gave him over 800 tickets!!! He redeemed them for a Chuck E. Cheese shirt which he proudly wore to school on Monday. He enjoyed opening his presents and his face was great opening each one! Last, but not least, Nana and Pop got him his long awaited Razor that he'd been wanting. He proudly rode it through the house and in the garage when we got home from the party. We were very grateful for all the people who came and shared this special day!

Brendan's First Fishing Trip

Brendan went on his first fishing trip! He had so much fun with his Daddy and Garrett. He was the first one to catch a fish that day! Afterwards, I was told that he caught not only the first one, but the first four. He was so excited to tell me about it. He is such a big boy! Love these pictures that Patrick took!

Easter 2009

The boys enjoyed Easter morning and discovering their baskets. We had a GREAT church service and then enjoyed dinner with the family! Later on that night we traveled home to go to the Easter drama at Valley View which was AWESOME!!! What a wonderful thing Christ did for all of us! Hopefully I will get some more pics from Mom from Easter soon and add to these.

Garrett's Baseball Team - Go Rays!!!

These first few pics are from the first practice game that was held. Garrett was working on his throwing and fielding in the first two pictures. In the third picture he is getting ready to round the bases! In the course of the practice game, in the fourth picture, he is getting the ball in from the outfield. The rest of the pictures are of the coach talking to them and encouraging them. They had not received their uniforms at the time so everyone had on their practice clothes of course. They did win the practice game!

These next few pics are of their first game! This is the night that Garrett got the game winning hit for the team! These pics are of them being a little silly before the game. Walt jumped out in front of the camera while Patrick was taking a picture. He is pretty funny! Colton is with Walt and Garrett in the other picture. Coach is giving them a pep talk before the game in the dugout. The team was sooo excited! They high fived the other team and ran off the field to have another talk with coach! One of the mom's had brought cookies for the team. What a treat to have after a great win and then on to get their team drinks from the concession stand!

These pictures are of his second game. He was working hard to round the bases! He then cooled off with a huge Gatorade! The last picture is of him running off the field after they won their second game!

The Tuscaloosa Air Show

We had a lot of fun at the Tuscaloosa Air Show! The boys were really excited. The two men with the boys were part of the crew for the Blue Angels (not actually the pilots - just crew men). Still they were nice enough to give us a Blue Angels Trading Pin and some stickers. The boys got a Blue Angels plane float. They both played with these while watching the show. At one point the planes got a little too loud for Brendan, but he did fine the rest of the time. During the show we called mom to chat with her and while Brendan was on the phone, he was trying to show her the planes. Wish she and Dad could have been there! We saw lots of tricks being done by two smaller planes, they made tons of loops. Also the U.S. Army Parachuting Team parachuted and did some stunts in the air. There was a "jet car" which raced the jet that was in the air. Last, but not least the most exciting was the Blue Angels!!! The news was that an estimated 100,000 to 150,000 people came out to watch the air show!! Hopefully the air show will come again to Tuscaloosa. Enjoy the pictures!

Krispy Kreme and Build-A-Bear

Garrett and I went on a field trip last Friday to Krispy Kreme and Build-A-Bear! The first graders were learning about the production of things from start to finish, so what better way to learn than to see doughnuts being made and to stuff a teddy bear. The people at Build-A-Bear played games with them and kept their attention. What a feat! A lot of the students purchased outfits for their bears, but due to feelings possibly getting hurt they didn't dress the bears there. Garrett decided to make a Spiderman bear - hence the name "Spider Bear"! He loves it and has kept it close to him each night. While there I also made a stuffed monkey for Brendan which I named "Chunky Monkey" of course! We then got to eat at Chick-fil-a and the students got to ride the carousel after eating. We really had an AWESOME time! Check out "Spider Bear" working with Garrett on the computer! LOL!

Snow!!!

It has been quite a while since we've seen snow! The boys enjoyed playing in it. I got a few pictures at home with my camera, but right now can't find the cord to upload them. Once it started to melt Patrick took the boys out in the woods to let them play more in it. Here are some pictures he took. Garrett's hair is lovely because he was wearing a hat and when he took it off the hair was a bit crazy. The picture of the two of them walking together holding hands is my favorite!

Growing Up!

February 22nd our baby turned 3! That is so hard for me to believe! He has grown from a 6 pounder to a whopping 38 pounds. He also had to have ear surgery and adenoids taken out the Tuesday before his birthday, but he quickly recovered. Before we left that day from his surgery he was singing to the nurse - "Jesus Loves Me". On his birthday weekend we were brave enough to have a yard sale and then his birthday party with extended family. We bought him his first scooter! Very funny seeing him on it. He and Garrett have enjoyed being able to ride their scooters together. The cake that we had was of course a WALLE one. It was cute, but somewhat looked like there was poo on it! HAHA! Also WALLE, his favorite movie right now, won an Oscar for BEST ANIMATED FILM on his birthday!

Bella - Our New Puppy

Today we added a new member to our family, our new dog - Bella, a Jack Russell Terrier! She is precious. We could not have asked for a better dog. She has her shots and is registered! Garrett is already in love with her. He is learning how to be gentle with her. Brendan thinks she is great too! Although for right now the dog is still unsure about him.

Presents, Presents, and Presents!!!

The boys had a great Christmas...all I can say is Presents, Presents, and more Presents! We enjoyed seeing their expressions on their faces. They were extremely excited and loved every minute of it. The hard decision is what to play with first! They are also aware of the reason for the season which is Christ's birth. We talked about it with Garrett and he understands that God sent him to be born and then die later for us on the cross for our sins. I believed in Santa as a child and also understood the reason for the season as well! There is no harm in letting a child use his imagination ...that's a part of childhood! We also watched the Disney Christmas Parade and had a wonderful breakfast made by mom.

Trip to see Santa

We took the boys last weekend to see Santa! It was a long wait, but worth it! We waited 40 minutes. In the meantime we talked to several families around us. We also let Garrett write a quick letter to Santa...he asked for a 4 wheeler. Oh well...he may be somewhat disappointed... that will have to wait till birthday time. He is getting plenty! Brendan told Santa he wanted a dumptruck and WALLE of course. We also rode the train around the fountain.

Unfortunately before we could get a picture of the house...a few lights went out. I'm still proud of how it looks! Mom came down to help me with the boys to get their pictures taken. Needless to say I NEEDED her help. The wait was of course a long one-from about 2:40-3:45-finally got them in, photos taken until about 5:20, and then prints were received at 6:00! At least they had a Lego table where the boys enjoyed playing. While we waited for the prints we walked around at Midtown Village and shopped a little. In the meantime mom was wanting to get back to Jasper to hear the Lamb Family in concert. They are AWESOME! Well I was trying to call Patrick to come and meet us, but accidentally somehow linked the wrong person...trucker answered and I didn't realize until about 2 to 3 minutes into the conversation...that it was NOT Patrick and I had rambled on talking that the guy hadn't had a chance to say that it was the wrong number. Pretty funny though, I told the person to come pick me up...he said okay SWEETIE! What a good laugh I got out of that one! Anyway these are just a few sweet pics from the photo shoot at Portrait Innovations.

The Moon

Yesterday there was the most beautiful full moon. I wanted the boys to come out and admire its beauty! As we were looking at it the boys were loving it. Brendan enjoyed it so much he wanted me to take him back out to see it. When we went out the second time the clouds were covering it a bit. Brendan began to get a little sad...he said "The moon is broken!" I said, "No, its just the clouds." Anyway he thought I said "cows" and he began to say "Moo!" Pretty funny! I love the things kids will say!

When is Thanksgiving Momma?

This morning we discussed why we were off and Garrett told me that because people fought for us. Smart boy! Then he proceeded to ask when was Thanksgiving...Of course I told him in a couple of weeks. His response was this..."Oh yes, I can't wait because I want some "punkin" pie..you know that Momma...we had that last year in Mrs. Tindle's class!" I thought that was cute. I was talking to Mom on the phone and she told him she would make his "punkin" pie!

Garrett is doing a wonderful job this year. His first grade teacher is GREAT! She is really organized and that has helped us stay on our toes. In AR reading, Garrett has completed his last two tests making an 80 and a 100! Garrett's reading is improving each week and his confidence is soaring. This week he improved by 60 sight words from the previous week! I am such a proud mama! He worked so hard this week on learning his words. By year's end he is supposed to have at least 400 sight words and he is halfway there. Also he continues to shine in spelling. We were also told that he is very artistic and creative at our parent-teacher conference. His "Alabama" notebook they did in class is wonderful. He drew the capital, the state bird, a large mouth bass, and etc. Again I am a PROUD mama!!!

My Little Jedi Crew

We went shopping at Target today and began looking at all the costumes for Halloween. Garrett found a Yoda costume that was perfect for Brendan! So I decided that my two little men would be Yoda and Obi-Wan! Luckily they had an outfit for Garrett to be Obi-Wan. I had Brendan surprise Patrick as Yoda and these are the pics he got of our little Jedi crew! Enjoy!!!

A Family Weekend at Mom and Dad's

We went to Jasper this past weekend to visit with Brent and Becky, Jill and Dave, and Mom and Dad. We celebrated Claire's 1 year birthday and Ally's 4 year birthday together with everyone. Also it was the first time for everyone to see Griffin! During our visit we got to watch the BAMA game - AMAZINGLY though we survived! All the cousins/grandkids got to play together and it was a pretty smooth weekend all in all. Next visit will be Thanksgiving and looking forward to seeing everyone again. Here are a few pics! First Grade Field Trip

Garrett and Patrick went on a first grade field trip on September 12th. Patrick loaded the pictures FINALLY so that I could share them with you. The trip consisted of a trip to IHOP for breakfast, a visit to the helicopter hanger for the police station, a visit to the fire station, a visit to the post office, and a trip down the river on the Bama Belle! Long day for a first grader, he was worn out that day and went to sleep very early. Unusual for Garrett! During the visit to the airport to see the helicopter their was an emergency call and they were able to see it take off! Garrett was so excited as you can see in the pictures!!!

I Can't Believe...

I can't believe how fast my little boy is growing up. Every morning this week he has run into Garrett's room saying, "GET UP, GARRETT!" trying to be a helper to his mommy and daddy. Brendan is beginning to wear big boy "undawears," as he would say. Yesterday, he used the potty like his brother - STANDING - and was so proud of himself! Hugs and high fives from him are so sweet! Singing "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" is one of his favorite things to do, but out of the clear blue this week he started singing, "God our Father..." This time it actually didn't come out to the tune of "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star!" Also he loves to watch the Alabama football games with me and he now says on his own - "Roll Tide" and "Go Bama"! Of course he is a little sponge and is learning so rapidly. He even tries to say Garrett's sight words as we are doing 1st grade homework!

Texas Weekend

I had a great time visiting Jill this past weekend in Texas. Mom, Brendan, and I went to her shower that the girls from her church threw for her. It was called a "Sip-N-See"! Griffin is a cutie! He cooed and laughed at his Aunt Jeanna. Brendan absolutely loved him. Several other babies were there and the main quote from Brendan was "I LIKE THE BABIES!" All of the babies were really sweet. I really enjoyed meeting Jill's friends! Jill, mom, and I went shopping and we also got to watch the BAMA game together!!! Brendan enjoyed playing with Grayson too and he loves Dave!

What a Game!!!

ROLL TIDE ROLL! This time Alabama showed up!!! They played as a TEAM! Here are some great pictures from Saturday night's game at the Georgia Dome. Jones and Ingram are just going to get better! I did keep myself in check last night. If you don't believe me call Patrick! As Becky said she was in SHOCK, so was I!!!

Weekly Spelling Tests

With Garrett being in 1st grade now comes the challenge of weekly spelling tests. Last week he struggled with his words as it was new to him. This week though we just drilled and drilled it. Apparently it stuck with him. I am pleased to announce that he made a 100!!!!! He had words like "because". I am SO PROUD of him! He worked so hard this week and he was absolutely thrilled. Patrick asked how he did it. Garrett replied, "I just did some thinking!" Love it! He also got to spend a "Buckaroo Buck" for being sooo good this week. His prize he chose was a compass. He told me all the way home which direction we were headed. :) Oh yeah, the Alabama game is not until 6:00 or 7:00pm!

1. The toilet tissue in the bathroom must be set to roll down. I flip it over every time if someone didn't put it on right.

2. I have a thing about my throws on my couches having to be folded a certain way. If Patrick has folded them differently I unfold them and fold them my way.

3. The same thing goes for towels. They must be folded a certain way to fit on the shelf.

4. I can't use any other type of cleaner besides Pine-Sol to clean my bathrooms and floors. It is the way my house smelled as a young child. Thanks to Mom for all those Saturdays as a young child slaving away!!!

5. Patrick is a leftie and I can't stand it when he turns our ironing board the other way.

6. I have to have my sheets tucked in too! Guess that's from Mom too.

Alabama Football Season is Here!!!

YAY! It is finally here. Can you believe it? Well, I certainly hope we do better than the last 4 games last season. The Tuscaloosa News today had a HUGE spread about the depth, coaches, and the list goes on. JPW just needs to prove himself. He sure did prove that he could munch on food at the Tuscaloosa Cracker Barrel a couple of months back! I am going to try to act civil this season. I PROMISE!!! The game is in Atlanta and will be on ABC around 1:00 or 2:00pm! ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!!

Space, Shoes, and Sisters

Sunday, we took the boys to the movies once again! This time we watched Space Chimps. With the boys being such monkeys, I thought how fitting. Brendan was captivated by the movie, he didn't budge!!! It seems as if they are trying to make more films for kids lately. We also want to go see Star Wars: "The Clone Wars"!

Tuesday, I picked Brendan up after a long day of teaching. I was really ready to go home and just chill out. Anyway, Brendan was playing in the church gym without his shoes. One of the high school girls who watch him in the afternoon went to look for them. Of course she couldn't find them (his good, brown sandals). So, I decided to just leave and pray that somehow we would get them back. In the meantime, they called Mrs. Susan, his teacher. She told them how mischevious he is and likes to put things in the garbage that do not belong in it! All the girls in the daycare went "Dumpster Diving" and they ended up finding his good, brown sandals. The director, Mrs. Terri, ended up delivering them personally to the house. Needless to say he is now wearing shoes that he can't get off during the day! That's not to say that another dumpster diving session won't happen! That's my little monkey for you!

Thursday night, I went to a "Sisters" event at church. My care group leader, Sonya, invited me to attend and sit at her table. She and her husband have just started coming to church at Valley View. Very godly, sweet people! I truly enjoyed myself. We ate dinner, talked about life, and laughed. The speaker, Paige Hughes, was wonderful. She talked about the seasons of life in women. No matter what season of life we are in we must determine if we are "annuals" or "perennials". We can't just be annuals and let our spiritual lives fade out! We must be perennials and keep blooming over and over again! I am very grateful that I went.

Oh, the many things boys love to do! Building blocks, chasing frogs/crickets, and fishing are some of Garrett's favorite things. I'm sure Brendan will be following in his footsteps!!! He is all about his big brother.

Garrett's Baseball Season

Garrett really enjoyed baseball this year. He met a lot of new friends. His friend, Ben, has even visited us at the house. Ben is the blonde-headed one in the back row of the trophy picture. He and his family have started coming to church too! Garrett's hitting got better and better each game. He still is working on his catching. He did make All-Stars for this year! They won their sub-district and made it to at least 4th or 5th place in district competition. The picture of Garrett holding his head is funny because he said he had "BRAIN FREEZE." Garrett said he wants to play again this fall and he wants to play basketball too!

A Family Visit

I made it through the first week of school! I have 14 students, which is a dream for third grade. So far the students seem to be pretty well behaved. I know it probably want stay that way, but for now that is AWESOME! We went to Jasper this weekend to visit my parents, Brent and Becky, and the girls. Ally and Claire are so big. They are too cute! Brendan asked several times, "Where Nana car go?" We told him it was broken and smashed. She wrecked her car pretty badly. Well, anyway he is now walking around saying, "Nana - car - smashed - it -broken!" That's baby language for you. Also we watched the Opening Ceremony for the Olympics. I'm personally looking forward to seeing the swimming and the diving competitions. Oh yeah, "Thanks to Becky for the pictures!!!" And we all wished Jill, Dave, Grayson, and Griffin had been there too!!!

A Movie Day with the Boys

Today we took the boys to see WALL-E! They absolutely loved it. Brendan sat and ate popcorn through most of the the movie. He was good for a 2 year old! Garrett was soooooo excited!!!We had been promising him forever. Patrick and I both enjoyed the movie too. Tonight is the last of my summer vacation. The boys vacation ends Thursday. Hopefully I will get a good group this year. It has to be better than the one I had last year. Just pray for me! Well, I must go iron my clothes for my return to work.

Getting Geared Up for School

A lot has been going on since we got back from the beach. We went to school this week Monday - Wednesday to fix my room for the upcoming school year. Garrett, Brendan, and Mom helped out a lot. Also we already have the boys school supplies together. Garrett is ready for 1st grade and Brendan will be in the two-year old class with Ms. Susan at church. She had Garrett and she is GREAT!!! Garrett's new teacher is Mrs. Galloway! I am looking forward to meeting her Tuesday, August 5th at Open House! Also I just emailed Becky to wish her a Happy Birthday!!! I read Jill's and Becky's blogs today. Griffin is the spitting image of Grayson. Claire is the spitting image of Ally. My boys are total opposites! One is me and one is Patrick. Pictures of my room and our vacation will be posted as soon as I get them from Patrick.

I Can Blog Too!

After viewing my sister's and sister-in-law's blog today I thought that I could do this too! Rather than using the phone this will be easier in keeping up with the events in our daily lives. Ally, Claire, and Grayson are growing up way too fast just like Garrett and Brendan. Now little Griffin has been added to the family. Well, I must get to packing. We are headed to Panama City Beach, Florida!!!
